Have you ever asked yourself that question? Are you ever going to achieve that goal in life that you longed for the most? Or have you already received what you desired and then discovered it didn’t satisfy you as much as you had hoped?
Life is like a classic novel with some chapters that are energizing and others that are disappointing, leaving you with questions that are difficult to answer; perhaps the hardest question to ask is…
Is there more to life?
A man who won the most popular sport in America three times and was MVP of the championship twice, and is married to a supermodel, asked this very question. Is there more to life? In a 60 Minutes interview with Steve Kroft, Tom Brady stated, “Why do I have three Super Bowl rings, and still think there’s something greater out there for me? I mean, maybe a lot of people would say, ‘Hey man, this is what is.’ I reached my goal, my dream, my life. Me, I think: God, it’s gotta be more than this. I mean this can’t be what it’s all cracked up to be. I mean I’ve done it. I’m 27. And what else is there for me?”
God answers this question for Tom Brady and us.
The Bible, God’s Word, is very clear as to what our purpose is in life. Ecclesiastes 12:13 states to “… Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Solomon stated that the mission for our life is to honor God. We can’t truly honor God because we are flawed with sins and our fellowship with God is broken. Only by restoring that fellowship with God through faith in Jesus Christ can we restore our fellowship with God.
Is there more to life?
Yes, an abundant life is waiting for those who desire to please God.
