“Heaven is for Real” is a book and movie about a little boy’s supposed trip to heaven. The book has sold over 10 million copies. A 4-year-old boy went to the hospital in Nebraska to have his appendix removed. When he awoke from surgery, he claimed to have had a vision of heaven. In the book, the boy makes several bizarre claims about heaven that both Christians and atheists cannot believe. Many books have been written by people who claim to have visited heaven. We know for certain that they cannot all be true. Why? Because many of their accounts contradict one another.

What is the TRUTH about heaven?

Only one reliable and accurate source of truth about heaven exists: It is the Bible. The Bible has a great deal to say about heaven, including who can go there. God has created every human being with an eternal soul that will live somewhere forever. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, taught us to make it our number-one priority in life to be certain that heaven is our eternal home. Jesus emphasized the seriousness of this issue when He posed this question: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36.

How can you be assured that heaven will be your eternal home?

In one of His last messages, Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples very candidly about heaven. Jesus taught some crystal-clear truths about heaven in the Gospel of John, Chapter 14:

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know” John 14:1-4.

In this same passage, Jesus taught us how we could be forgiven of all of our sins, receive Him as our personal Lord and Savior, and have confidence that heaven is our eternal home. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father [in heaven], but by me” John 14:6.

On August 2, I will be speaking on the topic “Facing Death with Confidence.” The Bible was written as our roadmap to heaven. In fact, the apostle John said, “These things have I written unto you…that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” I John 5:13. Come join us so that you can have the confidence that the apostle Paul had, who said, “to be absent from the body, [is] to be present with the Lord [in heaven]” 2 Corinthians 5:8.
